My Panasonic Lumix FX-520 sent for repair

It would seem that there really is such a thing as a camera being "too small"! My trusty FX-520, pocketable sidekick to my cumbersome DSLR gear, has many features. Unfortunately, impact-resistance isn't one of them....

The FX-520 is my chosen P&S, as it actually fits in my pocket (being rectangular in shape when powered off, not unlike a typical candybar cellphone). Being one of the few with manual controls, and built-in optical image stabilizer to boot, I'm able to get off a shot with this one, in less time than it takes for me to unzip the bag that holds my DSLR.

A recent incident involving my dear FX-520 and the floor resulted in the lens being whacked roughly 10 degrees off the main axis, which jammed it in place, unable to retract once powered off.

Well, it's off to the repairer for this little guy then. Hopefully, it won't take as long as my recent repair job with Nikon!

Charmaine's first birthday

In the mere blink of an eye, a year has passed since little Charmaine was born into this world. We had a small birthday party for her to celebrate!

Of course, she hadn't learned the skill of "blowing out the candle" on the cake (at least without rendering the cake inedible with a generous spray of bodily fluids!), so there was some off-camera support crew to help. We'll be training hard so that next year, she will hopefully manage to blow out the candles herself!

She was quite surprised to see so many people around, and even got the chance to meet some new friends her age! No doubt is was a "small" function, between my wife and I, there were quite a number of relatives, so an estimated 50+ pax turned up to wish little Charmaine a happy birthday.

No, we did not dye her hair brown. She's a natural brunette....
